Lilac Guitar Lounge presents this wonderful 1962 Fender Jazzmaster in its original Sunburst finish, just in from its second owner! This is a special one- featuring the perfect amount of wear, a Slab Rosewood Fretboard, and even comes with its original Hardshell case, instruction manual, bridge cover, and leather guitar strap. This Jazzmaster is the second one we’ve had from 1962, and we think it JUST beats the previous one out with its vibe and playability. We can’t say enough about how cool this guitar is, and you know Lilac Guitar Lounge is an Offset Lover’s heaven (we try to keep at least one or two Jazzmasters/Jaguars in stock at all times). This is close to a collector’s grade instrument with a couple small features that make it slightly more affordable- read more below! We are so stoked to have this special instrument in the shop, so don’t hesitate to contact us and ask about it.

Year:

1962.

Finish:

Original 3 color Sunburst Factory Finish with light to moderate wear. Original Finish on the neck and headstock. Finish is worn from play down to the wood from the first to fifth fret.

Fretboard Radius:

7.25” radius Brazilian Rosewood “Slab” fretboard with ‘clay’ dot inlays.

Nut Width / Neck Measurements:

1.66”(42mm) wide at the nut / .84" (21mm) deep at first fret, .98" (25mm) deep at twelfth fret. The neck is dated “3-62” in pencil at the heel, denoting a factory date of March 1962. The frets are factory original, and have a little life left in them.

Weight:

7 lbs, 11 oz. (3.5 kg)

Electronics:

Original Black-Bobbin Fender Jazzmaster pickups, which read 7.86k ohms at the Bridge, and 7.99k on the Neck. Original CTS pots date to the 52nd week of 1961 (Volume pot), and the 45th week of 1961 (tone pot). The rhythm circuit is all original and untouched.

Hardware:

Original hardware on the body including the tremolo unit, bridge, and tremolo arm. Original Tuners on all but the high E string, which is a period-correct replacement. There is a small hole that peeks out from under this high E tuner on the backside of the headstock (see photos) which could be fixed by a luthier, but we decided to leave it be for now.

Modifications:

The hole behind the high E Tuner, which has also been replaced for a period-correct tuner as stated above. We have replaced the foam underneath the pickups for easier pickup height adjustment, as well as adding some tape to keep the leads and wiring in place under the pick guard.

Case Details:

Original Fender Brown Tolex Hardshell case with orange interior.

Included:

All of the following are original to the guitar: Hardshell case, tremolo arm, leather guitar strap, 1962 Jazzmaster instruction manual, and bridge cover.

Additional Notes:

This 1962 Fender Jazzmaster is as cool as they come in the offset world. Early Jazzmasters with Slab rosewood fretboards are becoming harder to find, and when they do come up for sale they are fetching higher prices than ever! Our goal is to source these instruments at fair prices and sell them for fair prices as well, and this Jazzmaster is no different. This is the perfect instrument for someone who likes to play their vintage guitars, while having a collectible guitar that will appreciate in value over time. Once in a lifetime Jazzmaster right here! If you have any questions at all about this guitar, do not hesitate to reach out to us at LilacGuitarLounge@gmail.com or message us on our website, or our instagram @LilacGuitarLounge.
