Lilac Guitar Lounge is very excited to offer this early 1982 Fender Stratocaster ‘57 Fullerton Reissue. Aside from Pre-1965 Stratocasters, these Fullerton made, early ‘80s Fenders are the cream of the crop! Made with many of the same tools and in the same factory as the golden era Fender instruments, these are as close as you can get to pre-CBS Fender without the $30k+ price tag. This one is an amazing player, with lots of wear, so if you’re into clean guitars, look away! This Strat has most of its original components intact, including finish on the neck and body, Fullerton Pickups (complete with dates from ‘82!) and most of its hardware. It plays beautifully and sounds heavenly, and we know whoever picks this up will love it!  We are so stoked to have this special instrument in the shop, so don’t hesitate to contact us and ask any questions you may have about this listing.

Year:

1982

Finish:

Original two-tone sunburst nitrocellulose finish on the body, original finish on the neck and headstock.

Fretboard Specifications:

7.25” radius, one piece maple neck. The neck has been refretted with medium jumbo fretwire, and plays amazing! The neck is dated “5-24-82.”

Nut Width / Neck Measurements:

1.6”(42mm) wide at the nut / .8"(20mm) deep at first fret, .85"(22mm) deep at twelfth fret. This is a thinner C shape neck typical of these Fullerton Reissues. The back of the neck finish is played smooth and feels great.

Weight:

7.4 lbs (3.35 kg), which is a really nice light weight guitar especially for this era.

Electronics:

Original 1982 grey bobbin Fender Fullerton Stratocaster pickups with plastic wiring (as is typical for very early 1982 reissues, they didn’t get cloth on the wiring until part way into the run of these reissues). The pickups are dated "211782" denoting 1982 as the manufacture year. The pickup cavities have been deepened with a router, which we believe was done at the factory, which they did on some of these early reissues. Some solder joints have been touched up but the pots and capacitor appear original (see photos). The 3 way pickup switch is original, and it is hard to get those in between (out of phase) tones on this one. Easy fix if you want to switch out the switch to a 5 way (we will let the next owner decide).

Hardware:

Mostly original hardware, including the neck plate with serial # dating to 1982. One neck screw has been replaced, and the tremolo springs appear to be newer.

Modifications:

Refret with jumbo frets, new nut, some touched up solder, one neck screw replaced, tremolo springs changed out, and a Cheney thermometer/poodle hardcase (not original but older).

Case Details:

Older Cheney thermometer/poodle hardcase, not original but super cool!

Included:

Hardshell Case, tremolo arm.

Additional Notes:

This 1982 Fender Stratocaster ‘57 reissue is sure to impress every Strat fan, and its one of the coolest Fenders we’ve had in the shop. It’s worn in, looks like a real ‘50s Strat, and sounds great, all for less than a custom shop from Fender! Don’t miss out on this one, you wont find another like it.
